Bummer. Last week our OpenTechFund contract was not signed but suspended along with OTF itself. Shit happening overseas.

However, we wouldn't deliver resilient messaging infrastructure and apps if we weren't a resilient and fun community. We never had much money to begin with, and are graced with great pro-bono contributions.

We are now looking for other public funding but it takes time. Meanwhile it'd be great to get intermittent help via a wealthy donor or small tips delta.chat/en/donate

@Laempel danke! uns tut es vor allem leid um all die Menschen die für was drüben passiert mit dem Leben bezahlen weltweit und auch in unserer näheren Nachbarschaft. Ganz überrascht waren wir jedenfalls nicht vom Wegfall des fertigen Vertrages aber es war wirklich auf der Zielgeraden seit zwei Monaten. Hinter solchen Verträgen steckt immer ne Menge Vorarbeit. Die letzten releases sind sowieso schon ohne funding passiert und wir haben noch einiges vor. Mal schauen.

OpenTechFund operated on budget committed by the US Congress. The US President cannot stop funding that the parliament has decided on. However, what he claims to be allowed to do is to reduce the staff of the agency in charge of administration of these funds so that it no longer can do its work.

Projekte für Internetfreiheit: Open Technology Fund steht vor dem Aus

Nun hat der Trumpsche Kahlschlag auch den Open Technology Fund erreicht. Das US-Projekt finanziert Projekte mit, die sich weltweit für die Internetfreiheit einsetzen. Damit ist vorerst Schluss, gab die OTF-Präsidentin Laura Cunningham bekannt.
