So, by law in Hungary books with any #LGBTQ content have to be sold with the warning "Non-traditional content!"

On top of being sinister, his system is also:

1. Ironically useful, because Hungarian bookshops didn't have queer sections before, so the label actually makes queer content a lot easier to find

2. Low key surreal when the label is put on folktales, Greek mythology, or biographies like Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls...

3. Useless and dumb

Which means one poor Fidesz minion has to read everything to check, and expose his or her mind to all those non-traditional ideas. Sounds like a cool job.

det er ikke kun USA vi skal se på med vagtsomme øjne. I vores egen baghave gror der også planter, som ikke ønsker diversitet.

I love the idea of accidentally starting a cult following for "non traditional content". Maybe a TV series of the same name. A jazz band. Definitely a Mastodon server as well :)

@ewen both my mythology book and one of my folktale collections got hit with it. Ironically the folktale book is titled "Traditional folktales about non-traditional families" 😆

@ewen Given the title & subject, slapping a "NON-TRADITIONAL CONTENT" sticker on the book seems almost like an endorsement.

Can't wait for these freaks to study "marriage traditions" in the Old Testament, lol!

Interesting (and terrifying also).

In Sopron at Libri book store I searched this book: tinyurl.com/anemaistenno I've found it, without any label, maybe in the historical section. Honestly, I was satisfied. The whole greek history is an important part of the European heritage.

@styghu yeah, unless they are wrapped in plastic, the label only shows up in the online shops

following our footsteps, I see. Reminds me of this sex ed book for pre-teens we got from Russia. Note the 18+ marking. Above it the text says "an encyclopedia to be read by adults to children, recommended for ages 10+" 🤦‍♂️

It's like the "Explicit" label on music, that's how you know it's the good stuff.

yet spreading hate and discrimination are even encouraged...

"I want to save the children from bad things" by doing the (yet) Most horrific things to them, is not exactly a case for good thinking.

But when was that the strong suit of facists?

in reply to Dr. Zalka Csenge Virág

As dumb as that one might be, I wish more books were marked with content warnings. No way to tell from the cover how graphic the story inside is going to be.

please tell me someone is selling t-shirts with this on it?
