If I were more ambitious, I would try to influence people on the more fashionable parts of the internet to not be big stupid dildos. In the sense that I'd, like, tell people to listen to their partners, be there for their friends, eat food, share music they like, make bad art, and tell their own jokes.

"Satisficing" is a core part of my worldview. You have wants and needs, and it's normally easier to satisfy needs than wants. There's no governing principle on wants. By bringing your wants closer to your needs, your life can be governed less by what you don't have. It is liberating. That's my basic message.

That's not to say that needs can't be big and complicated and difficult to obtain. They very obviously can be. And I'm not just talking about food and shelter: the whole Maslovian hierarchy is on the menu. The ballgame is deciding when enough is enough.

Even as simplistic as it is, that Maslovian list would be useful, lest the "hierarchy" part. From historical observations and countless stories of failed repressions we know that these five (to eight in my opinion) needs substitute in various rates, depending on personal dynamics and social context. The can be fulfilled in parallel ot time-share manner and their priorities may shift, disregarding any measurable level of fulfillment
Also, there are more than one way to fulfill a need - an a want is one of them.
