2051: SolarPunk Odyssey
As ecological succession unfolds, a solarpunk-ish community travels in search of a new place to live.

On February 29, 2024, we submitted a project to the Chaos Computer Club competition for a grant for an artistic work depicting a utopian vision of a community in times of chaos.

For obvious reasons, we believe that TePeWu is creating and realizing just such a vision. So we asked ourselves what might be happening to our community in 2051 - and we intend to provide the answer in art form. You can see details of our project here:

Using generative AI to develop a project to be presented in a competition for a grant in artistic work is not very solarpunk/utopian...

None of these pictures are part of the project. :-) I am just visually illiterate, so this is the only way I can add anything non-verbal.
I will be eternally grateful for something better.

Good. I'd still reconsider using generative AI to promote your creative endeavors, specially if you are interested in embracing a solarpunk philosophy. If not for ethical reasons, because if people can tell you use AI to produce images, they might suspect other aspects of your work are not genuinely creative.

Generative AI is a new serpent in the Garden of Eden, indeed. I am torn apart between my pragmatic selves (there is a reason I am called the 8Petros) and those more orthodox and idealist ones.
I hope good people from #ChaosComputerClub will relieve me from my suffering by way of granting us enough money to have our people paid.

As for "visual illiteracy", you can find artists who are available for artwork comissions all over the internet, I'm sure there are options within your budget it you need graphics to go with your work.

We have a visual person and she is clearly against using AI. I assigned a good chunk of our planned budget for her. So, if we get the grant, this is solved. If not, we will try to raise the money otherwise - anyway, decent visuals (and soundtrack) are priority.
We, poor wordsmiths, work for free (it is not that bad - I live out of a decent social and Janek gets his pay from interpreter's job ;-) )

@forameus the AI 'art' also turns me off quite a bit. Since it's just a sketch of an idea, maybe the visual arts could contribute some light sketches? And then you would point towards existing art for your inspiration for the look and feel?

I am honestly going to replace them as soon as possible. It will be great pleasure to see your engagement then. Bear with us.

it doesn't look very solarpunk more like posts apocalyptic hopepunk. I still wish you luck and yes you should try to find an artist to get rid of the AI art soon.

It is my pleasure to present you first sketches made with a mortal hand of our visual visioneer. Now nothing stands between us and your enthusiastic support and engagement.
