- This morning I opened my Debian desktop (KDE) client and saw no profile.
- When I retriever my profile from backup, I see two icons in left margin (see the screenshot), the upper one is not selectable.

I think the 2020s is the Death of the Scientific Model.
We've had 3 things happen, and all 3 of them were fatal.
1: We had clear, solid, well-developed Scientific models of how SARS2 worked, and they were completely unimplemented. Even by the Scientists themselves.
2: Our Devil's Pact with "Large Language Models" finally began to produce simulacra well enough to have people believe in it - and a mass jettisoning of Science as a whole. Simplest way to say it: It's not a Model. But it has run roughshod over a bunch of models.
3: We understood what CO2 was doing to the atmosphere BEFORE I WAS A FUCKING UNDERGRAD IN THE FUCKING 90s. CO2 ABSORBS AND REFLECTS INFRARED LIGHT - HEAT. THIS IS BASIC FUCKING PHYSICS FROM THE MID 20TH CENTURY DAMMIT. But now we'll all just pretend it's "not settled" and build a 5gigawatt power plant for #2 up there.
Models - through which Humanity has stumbled forward since before Kepler and Galileo - Models are now unactionable, disconnected, and abused.
They're over.
We've entered a darker Dark Age.

When you assign 100% blame to Hamas for this situation, what you are saying is this: it's perfectly acceptable to perform massive reprisals on a civilian population in revenge for terrorist attacks by a small number of individuals.
But it isn't. It's a war crime.
