Russia, always the innocent victim, bravely ‘defending itself’—by invading its neighbors. Poland (1939), Finland (1939), Hungary (1956), Czechoslovakia (1968), Afghanistan (1979), Georgia (2008), Ukraine (2014, 2022). Must be exhausting, being ‘provoked’ for centuries. Maybe the world should stop falling for the same excuse?

🚨I promised I'd say more on the Royal Society and Elon Musk, so here it is. 🚨
I've resigned my position as Associate Editor at Royal Society's journal Open Science in protest at their lack of action over Elon Musk.

Elon Musk is a proven danger to good science, but the Royal Society won’t say it. That’s why I resigned
It is vital to act, and I urge colleagues to do so. How can we stand by and laud this man while he undermines scientific integrity? asks academic and author Kit YatesKit Yates (The Guardian)

I can't get over the fact that he was invited to the Royal Society in the first place.
He might be able to bullshit his way to Tesla fanboys or over excited tech journalists telling them what a genius inventor he is, but come on, isn't the Royal Society supposed to be a bunch of wisest guys around?
What exactly did Elon Musk invent or discover, not paid someone to do so, but personally? From what we know, even his degree is questionable.
The best scientific minds should know better.

"A nightmare scenario would be if mankind were targeted by a pathogen that attacks our frontal lobes and changes our personalities, making us less likely to get along, reach a consensus, and understand others' points of view. Such a pathogen could bring an end to society as we know it. Unfortunately, the nightmare may be real and taking shape in SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes #COVID19."
