This question got heavily downvoted at slrpnk.net within minutes from publication (no answers, though).
I am curious what will be the reaction from broader audience here.
#Altcoin for #Solarpunk development? We need altcoins as long as we interact economically over the net, with people we do not know (or simply with people outside our local communities). If we try to imagine what qualities a “solarpunk coin” should have, what are your thoughts? Do we know any existing coin, checking all boxes? This question is more about political economy of Solarpunk, than its technology.
a lot of books (like the Gamechanger, A Half Built Garden) put the "old capitalists" as the villains, but I would be more subtle and not cast any people or groups there. I would cast traits. Technosolutionism. Fanaticism. Purism.
When I wrote alxd.org/solarpunk-rpg-faction… , I made the factions purposefully problematic, so that each one could generate some problems.

2051: SolarPunk Odyssey
As ecological succession unfolds, a solarpunk-ish community travels in search of a new place to live.
On February 29, 2024, we submitted a project to the Chaos Computer Club competition for a grant for an artistic work depicting a utopian vision of a community in times of chaos.
For obvious reasons, we believe that TePeWu is creating and realizing just such a vision. So we asked ourselves what might be happening to our community in 2051 - and we intend to provide the answer in art form. You can see details of our project here:
For our #LookingUp #TePeWu project, we will need a source of various decorative pictures. We want them not only to be legal, abut also from ethical sources, so the artists are justly paid. For obvious reasons, we are looking for pictures associated with #solarpunk and similar genres, #anarchism, #degrowth and generally planet-friendly esthetics.
We im for a yearly subscription, so we can add it to our starting budget.
Suggestions most welcome.
New Maps is a quarterly journal of short stories that take place in the Earth’s realistic future. Not a paradisiac or apocalyptic end of days, nor an easy continuation of the last few decades’ business-as-usual with somewhat different fashions, but an era in which our ecological and energy bills have come due, and we and our descendants have proceeded to do what people always do: figure out creative ways to keep doing all those things that make up life, the loving and hating and laughing and crying and all the rest, in the times we’ve been given.
As soon as I have few extra bucks, I will get a sample and see, how it differs from #SolarPunk and other #SF&F subgenres. Considering the involvement of John M. Greer, it can be interesting, if slightly US-centric.
