The technology known as artificial intelligence has been with us for years now. Lately, given its accelerating penetration into every area of our lives, it has grown into a topic that polarizes discourse to a degree comparable with abortion. After a period of careful reflection, I’m (we’re) starting to speak up about it.
AI is not a homogeneous category to accept or reject wholesale. We separate three questions: about the concept itself, about today’s large-scale AI industry, and about the possibility of a decentralized model serving self-governance.
