Dear Everybody:
The big news today is that 9/11 is coming and Trump is now trotting out all his old lies about his actions on 9/11, as well as some new ones.
–Trump: “Nobody saw the plane hit.”
–Trump claimed he saw both planes hit, even though he was four miles away at the time and that has been proven to be impossible because 1) he was too far away, and 2) there were no windows in his office facing the Twin Towers. He also said he saw people jumping out of the towers, and he was definitely too far away for that.
–Trump claims he lost hundreds of friends in the attacks. When asked to name even one person he lost, he was unable to provide a single name.
–He also claims, contradictorily, that he was over in Jersey and saw thousands of Muslims cheering as the towers came down.
–He’s adding some new stories to the old lies–and believe it or not, he told this latest one with NYC police and firefighters standing behind him: “I was down there with the first responders, also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder. But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you. I went down there very shortly thereafter, the following day. You couldn’t go down the same day, but like the following day, very, very quickly afterwards, and we worked long and hard.”
–Trump said he joined the rescue effort with his own construction crew. Trump: “I had more than 100 workers in there with a hundred more coming. We had other buildings. The US Steel building was creaking. I’ll never forget two firemen. We thought it was coming down on top of us, and two firemen. Big strong guys. And I’m not the smallest guy in the world. They grabbed me under the arms: ‘We gotta get out of here.’ And they literally lifted me up. This is not easy to do. I’m big. They lifted me up and they started running with me. I said, ‘Fellas, I can run myself.’”
–NYFD Chief Richard Alles said there was “zero record” of Trump having worked down at the site. “We would have had documentation of that. All the crews were operating under police and fire department supervision.”
–Pakman: “Give me a break. The evidence has never, ever materialized.”
–Aaron Rupar: “Trump’s 9/11 lies are getting more outlandish. Trump has told a number of whoppers about his response to 9/11 in recent days, including today claiming he was basically pulled out of the rubble while his employees were at Ground Zero helping.”
–WeThePeople: “What a monster to lie about this.”
–Jessica jewitt: “This is the most evil lie he’s told, I think. It’s one thing to be a liar. It’s quite another to lie about this on top of filing for lost rent and saying he donated to charities when he didn’t. Just evil.
–Michael Salfino: “Trump’s an insane liar who can’t help but lie about everything even with his brain now scrambled eggs.”
–Jeffrey Evan Gold: “Total baldface lie. He’s a delusional fool in control of our nukes.”
–David Pakman said it’s “a lie Trump seemingly cannot get away from because he needs it to fuel his massive ego.”
–Middlerage: “You think he can’t be a bigger piece of shit and he just always is!”
–elderreed: “He filed for 9/11 recovery money when his properties had zero damage. when confronted, he defended (himself) by saying the money was just out there for the taking.”
–Eric Columbus: “Trump falsely attaching himself to 9/11 is like attaching his name to the Kennedy center–he lifts his leg to mark his territory on our honored dead.”
–What Trump actually did the day of 9/11 and what IS documented was that he called into radio stations and bragged about how now that the World Trade Center had fallen, he owned the tallest building in New York. Trump: “40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest–and then when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest. And now it’s the tallest.” Which wasn’t true either.
–In February 2025, Trump implemented sweeping federal and CDC staffing cuts and canceled research contracts tied to the World Trade Center Health Program, which provides medical care to sick 9/11 responders and survivors.”
Trump’s not the only one being disgusting about 9/11. So are the Republicans:
–JD Vance called it “a celebration,” and so did Markwayne Mullin, who said, “To be honest with you, 9/11 isn’t a day that I just love to celebrate. Because some people do celebrate success that American has. For me, it kinda puts a bad taste in my mouth.” (What is he even talking about? Nobody has EVER celebrated 9/11 except Trump, who spent the day bragging on TV that now that the Twin Towers were gone, he had the tallest building in New York, and even that was a lie.)
–And they’re all determined that Mayor Mamdani should not be allowed at the 9/11 commemoration ceremony because he’s Muslim and will somehow defile it. (While they’re busy defiling it every time they open their mouths.)
–And by the way, in case you’ve forgotten, Trump will NOT be at the ceremony because they wouldn’t let him make a speech, which now that we’ve heard what he’s likely to say, is a real blessing for all those poor families of the victims. He is speaking instead at the Pentagon, where I expect him to spew the same lies, only probably with some new embellishments.
When Trump wasn’t lying about 9/11, he was renaming states:
–Trump now wants to change the name of New Mexico to New America. (No, I am not making this up.)
–Yesterday he posted multiple memes showing New Mexico with the name changed, and now today he put up at least 7 different maps (so far) with the real name crossed out and “New America” written in.
–New York Times: “The President can’t rename a state on a whim.”
–Raymond Burns III: “Many people suggest changing the name of New Mexico. Translation: No one said any such things. He’s listening to the voices in his head again.”
–Trump: “Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote- cheating states of all time, to NEW AMERICA. So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible State. Wow, I Love It!!!”
–Trump posted an AI video of him slapping a sticker with the word “America” on it over a highway sign saying, “Welcome to New Mexico” and Trump then dancing to “YMCA.”
–New Mexico Dem Rep Melanie Stansbury: “Oh, hell no! Our state’s name carries generations of history, culture, and family–and it belongs to us. We’re New Mexicans. Period.”
–Dem Rep Ted Lieu: “Average gas prices hit the highest monthly levels in history in August. Diesel prices hit an all time record high in September. What are Trump and Republicans focused on? Changing the name of New Mexico to New America. November is coming.”
–SFTPL: “The guy’s mind, what little there was to begin with, is gone. He is out of contact with reality and with the American people. How’s that for a description of the most powerful man in the world with the nuclear launch button on his desk. How is it possible that more than half of Congress plus the Supreme Court still grovel and fear him knowing that he is a demented old man who shouldn’t have the power to decide what’s for dinner, let alone deciding on world politics? Somebody has some serious ulterior motives and they don’t include us.”
Trump also continued his crazy postings into today, including:
–Obama looking into the mirror and seeing an image of Trump, with the caption, “Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the greatest president of them all?”
–Trump arm-wrestling Hulk Hogan.
–Several images of Iran’s navy (aka a bunch of battleships) resting at the bottom of the sea.
–All of North America, including Mexico, Canada, Greenland, and Iceland colored in with the red, white, and blue and saying, “The United States of America.”
–Iceland summoned the US ambassador to Iceland after Trump posted the map.
–He also put up a post about mortgage corporations and Fannie Mae, with him giving a speech about it, BUT it’s not real. Trump’s image and voice are both AI. The post on Twitter says, “The audio of President Trump is AI-generated and used with permission,” but the same post on his Truth Social has no such disclaimer and presents the image and voice as real.
–TNCTM “He’s had a break with reality. This is 25th Amendment stuff.”
–The Daily Beast: “Trump, 80, Slips into AI fantasy in 37 Post Spree as His Troubles Spiral.”
–Michael Azevedo: “So predictable that not a word of this insane mania is printed in the New York Times.”
–kurious: “If a Democratic President were to post the avalanche of grossly ‘unpresidential AI slop that Trump posted overnight, Republicans would demand that he undergo psychiatric testing immediately. Instead, Republicans continue to encourage and enable this madness…”
Among Trump’s deranged posts was one of what he says are the new Space Force Uniforms:
–They’re all black, with high boots and Nazi visored caps.
–derek guy: “This is the kind of design costume designers make to tell you who are the bad guys in a space movie.”
–215 Pounds on the Moon; “Very reminiscent of the Nazi uniforms designed by Karl Diebitsch and graphic designer Walter Heck…”
–ansonimaachi: “Yeah, very Star Wars Empire, or as it says, the fascist guys from Starship Troopers.”
–Rap Bastardz: “It’s as if someone didn’t realize when Lucas designed the Empire he wanted it to be reminiscent of the SS.” (Oh, they realize it, all right.)
In Iran War/Israel news;
–Today there was a new bombshell report that Netanyahu knew about the terrorist attack by Hamas on September 23rd, 2023, ten days before the deadly October 7th attack–AND DIDN’T TELL ANYBODY!
–On October 7th, Hamas led a surprise cross-border attack which killed 1200 people and resulted in 251 hostages being taken. A new report says that ten days before, Netanyahu had been told explicitly that Hamas was planning a major attack, which was described as “an earthquake.” He was also warned by Egyptian intelligence.
–The report says Netanyahu was to blame for the attack due to his failures to warn security chiefs, prepare Israel, or even convene the cabinet.
–CNN: “The Prime Minister’s Office dismissed the report as an ‘absolute lie.’ But with Israel’s October elections less than two months away, Netanyahu’s rivals seized on it as the latest evidence of what they say is a growing list of warnings he had ignored.”
–Indie Guy: “October 7th was exactly the opening Netanyahu, Ben-Givr, and the rest of the genocidal cabal needed to implement their plan to wipe Palestine from the earth.”
–newfie: “And in my opinion, more important for Bibi, et al, the opening that improved their chances of remaining in power and out of prison.”
–bluesophie: “People who will sacrifice their own innocent citizens in order to justify a horrific genocide will do anything.”
In Mitch McConnell news:
–Senate leaders originally said McConnell would be back by the time the Senate reconvened and voted, which would be September 11, but now James Comer is saying he will be back “in a few weeks.”
–Even Fox News is getting fidgety. Fox host Joe Concha urged McConnell to either return or resign.
In White House news:
–The rats have started to flee the sinking ship, with a bunch of White House personnel leaving: James Braid, David Warrington, Karoline Leavitt, and James Blair.
–Also leaving are lesser-known people, like Andy Baker, Abigail Jackson, Emily Underwood, Pace McMullan, and Sriram Krishman.
–This means Trump’s circle of people he knows and trusts keeps getting smaller and is now down to Stephen Miller, Susie Wiles, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Steven Cheung, Boris Epshteyn (who is now one of the most powerful people in Trump’s orbit), Roger Stone, and of course, the ever-present Natalie Harp.
–And speaking of Natalie, more and more attention is being focused on her.
–Zeteo reports an advisor in the Trump administration wanted to post something about crypto, “so I asked Natalie, and it worked.”
–Acyn: “This sounds like insider trading within the White House to me.”
–Journalists have been looking into Harp’s background and finding lots of worrying signs from her early broadcasting days with OAN. She frequently signed off with Bible verses and/or Trump quotations.
–She compared Trump to Job, saying he was mercilessly persecuted. “But like Job, he is holding fast (against the witch hunts), knowing God sees the injustice and He hates it.”
–She compared Bill Barr to Pontius Pilate for making a decision that went against Trump. (Pilate was the Roman who tried Jesus and sentenced him to death.)
–She said Trump “never got enough credit for being a president that never started any wars????” and declared, “Trump has a legacy of peace.”
In The Grift Goes On news:
–Now Trump is giving hot dogs away free at his golf clubs–and then charging the Secret Service for them.
–Forbes Magazine reports that at Trump National Golf Club outside Washington DC, Trump has a snack shack next to the 11th tee box which sells hot dogs Trump apparently “loves. He’s like, ‘Chef, get everyone a hot dog–all these guys’…he orders one for everyone around him, including his Secret Service detail. Then, according to a former employee, the club bills the Secret Service for the hot dogs.”
–Forbes: “On Trump’s personal scale of human achievement, (the hot dogs) probably rank somewhere between mankind’s first glimpse of gold in a riverbed and the construction of Trump Tower.”
–Steve Murtha: “No grift too small for the leader of the free world.”
In historical news:
–Today’s the day in 1930 that 3M introduced “celluloid adhesive strip on a roll,” or, in other words, Scotch tape.
–In my opinion it’s one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. Have you ever tried to wrap a package using nothing but string? Not to mention all its other uses. You can mend torn book pages, mount pictures in a scrapbook, label stuff–you can write on it, seal envelopes whose glue didn’t stick, clean a computer keyboard, make spit curls stay in place, pick up crumbs or shards of glass, fix frayed shoelace aglets, pin up hems whose stitching has come loose, get lint off sweaters, and, with the help of a cotton ball, make a bandaid (also an invaluable invention) out of it.
In other news:
–Krakatoa erupted violently again over the weekend, forcing the closure of 7 regional airports and stranding 340,000 travelers. It had 5000-foot-high lava fountains, ash plumes 50,000 feet high, and ominous booming sounds. (But last time, in 1883, it blew the island completely apart and was one of the loudest and deadliest eruptions in history, so this isn’t nearly as bad–so far.)
–A judge in Mississippi ruled that residents of Jackson, Mississippi do not have a constitutional right to clean water, even though the water has lead in it: “These deprivations, while grievous, do not infringe upon any deeply rooted constitutional right.” (How about the right to the pursuit of happiness–or the right to life?)
–Lonnie G. Bunch, the head of the Smithsonian is retiring, due to the “stress” that Trump has put on the institution.
In good news:
–Christopher Armitage filed for Todd Blanche’s disbarment in New York for knowingly disobeying a federal court order to release the Epstein files.
–The DC Circuit Court says the IRS decision to share taxpayer information about tens of thousands of people with the DHS violates the law. The Court said IRS personnel face steep civil and criminal consequences for continuing to make similar disclosures of taxpayers’ information to DHS.
–The registered nurses of National Nurses United and allies of the organization have mobilized nationwide to demand hospitals and elected officials immediately cut ties with Palantir.
Best meme of the day, from the Volatile Mermaid: “Can’t afford groceries? No problem! It’s not safe to consume them anyway!”
Best comment of the day, from Steve Schmidt: “The sound you are going to hear in 57 days is the loudest ‘Fuck you!’ in American history. It will be well-earned.”
Keep calm and carry on,
Connie Willis
