Dear Everybody:

The big news today is that Trump once again went on a posting spree, and this one was the most deranged and frightening yet:

–During a two-hour time span on Sunday, Trump posted more than 60 times. Since he is incapable of doing AI, this means Natalie Harp either came up with these or reposted memes from other people, which makes it even scarier.

–Aaron Rupar: “A string of absolutely bonkers Truth Social posts from Trump in the span of about ten minutes.”

–Heather Delaney Reese: “The posts became so disturbing at times that many began openly questioning if the president of the United States was having a health crisis, with some of his fellow MAGA Republicans even ridiculing him back.”

–He posted a map of New Mexico with the “Mexico” crossed out and “America” penciled in. (Note: He’s mad at New Mexico because they just filed suit against the DOJ, trying to get the Epstein files released that they need for their investigation into Epstein’s goings on at Zorro Ranch.)

–Trump seated on a dark black metal throne inside a dystopian military command center, surrounded by black armored robot soldiers towering over him and flames everywhere, and the caption, “GIVE THEM NIGHTMARES.”

–Trump dressed in a long black coat with two enormous black armored robots rising into the sky and dog-like fighting machines with red glowing eyes, and the caption, “THEY WILL DREAM OF US FOREVER.”

–Trump dressed in a long black coat surrounded by armed robots marching forward through a dark, hellish landscape, with the caption, “THEY WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.”

–Trump smashing Iran with a giant American flag hammer.

–A graphic showing the map of Iran redrawn in the shape of Trump’s head.

–Trump commanding Space Force from a space station while he detonated huge nuclear fireball explosions across the Earth’s surface below.

–The new all-black Space Force uniforms, which look like a cross between the Nazis and the uniforms the bad guys wore on the Death Star.

–An AI picture of an ocean liner with the name DEMOCRATS on it being sunk (I was going to say it’s supposed to be the Titanic, but there are huge explosions wracking the ship.)

–A photo of the moon with the caption, “The Moon is Ours.”

–An AI picture of him and Canadian PM Carney as hockey players, with Trump knocking Carney down and shouting, “Get up, Governor!”

–A photo of Trump golfing, captioned, “He is a great golfer, wins all the time, but an even better president.”

–An AI of Trump sitting in the Oval Office day trading, making “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks.” And that’s not all of them, by a long shot.

–Descriptions of them don’t really do them justice. You need to see them for yourselves to get a picture of the full scope of the madness they portray:

And that’s not all. The official White House website posted Trump as the Green Lantern, wearing a glowing gold ring and surrounded by military symbols, with the caption, “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power…Green Lantern’s Light!”

–I know they’re just images, but they also show his mindset, which gets more violent and annihilation-prone by the minute, and we’ve seen him try to re-enact these fantasies in real life before. They’re signs of what he wants–and intends–to do. I mean, if you saw Hitler posting stuff like this, you’d be scared to death, right?

–Heather Delaney Reese: “He is acting out violent fantasies, threatening foreign leaders in childish ways, posting about changing the name of New Mexico to New America, and posting a picture of himself working the drive-through window at McDonald’s. The President of the United States is gone indeed.”

–George McCully: “I’ve been saying for years that he is a raving lunatic, and more recently that his dementia has been accelerating, deepening and getting worse in many ways. What particularly worries me now is that it seems to be getting increasingly violent and paranoid toward others. If that is true inside his bubble and projections outward, and increasingly detached from objecting reality, the American people need reassurances that he is and will be constrained from destroying us all.”

–Stephen Wunderlich: “He’s gotta go. Before he kills all of us.”

–Comox Tips: “Every single other nation on the planet would have overthrown a leader this insane.”

–Debbie Dinger: “This seems so fake but it isn’t. He’s really losing his grip on reality. Lord save us.”

–Tom Nichoils: “Something is very wrong with the president. And yet, still has the codes to our nuclear arsenal and is the single person who can order their use.”

–John Jackson: “This is not normal. It’s like watching a slow-motion train crash. Historians will be aghast.”

–Rick Hill: “They can join the club.”

The other big news today is that everyone, inside the Pentagon and out, is getting very worried about Pete Hegseth:

–The military’s Delta Force soldiers defied Hegseth.

–Top former US military leaders are sounding the alarm that Pete Hegseth is doing ‘active harm” to the Pentagon as the Iran War exposes serious problems inside the military.

–Retired Major General Randy Manner: “The Secretary of Defense is a clear and present danger to the national security of the United States and the world. He has done more harm to the national security of the US than any Secretary of Defense since the country was created.”

–People at the Pentagon are spreading the story that minutes before Hegseth was supposed to meet with the Ukrainian Defense Minister, he was more concerned about his appearance than the meeting–he was spotted using a makeup compact.

–kurious: “Hegseth’s vanity, sociopathy, and ignorance aren’t just disgusting–they’re dangerous.”

–Remember Hegseth’s order that everybody in the military had to be tested for their testosterone levels and then given shots to boost the level so they’d be more manly? He withdrew the order the day after it was announced.

–And Charlotte Clymer what Hegseth’s nickname was inside the Pentagon: No Tabs Pete.

In the uS Army, there are skill tabs for having passed elite military courses, little canopy-shaped patches that go on your uniform shoulder and indicate you’re graduated from that course. There are four of them: Special Forces, Ranger, Sapper, and Jungle. The nickname is derisive and means that Hegseth hasn’t passed anything, has no skills, and no business being in charge of anybody.

In Canadian trade war news:

–Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent compared Canada to a little dog that used to yip at his German shepherd. Bessent: “This little yipping dog would just bark away…one day the German shepherd had had enough…”

–Secretary Not Sure: “When you brag about how much bigger and tougher you are, you’re the bully that’s about to get his ass kicked.”

–Jorl Klebanoff: “Canadian here. I recognize that it will be difficult for Bessent to achieve completely, but if his goal is to make sure no Canadian tourists visit the US and no Canadians buy anything from the US that they don’t have to buy from it for generations to come, he’s going about it the right way.”

–Trump: “We could do tremendous good for ourselves by just not trading with countries.”

–GOP Rep Lisa McClain admitted that Trump’s trade war will ‘absolutely’ cause pain to her constituents, but added that ‘at the end of the day I trust that President Trump is not going to do anything to hurt the American people long term.”

–Daily Beast: “Donald Trump loves renaming things. His fake names include ‘the Department of War,’ and the ‘Trump-Kennedy Center.’ But none has earned him so much karmic opprobrium as his attempt to strip Lake Ontario of its history and rename it ‘Lake America.’ He has turned a whole nation against him.”

In economic news:

–The Dutch Central Bank has relocated the equivalent of over 10 billion euros in gold from facilities in the United states and Canada, citing “instability” and “rising tensions.”

–European allies are moving billions of dollars in gold out of the US amid fears Trump could freeze their reserves and use them as leverage.

–The Bulwark: “The idea that we would do this to our friends is just batshit crazy.”

In Tate Brothers news:

–The Tate Brothers are being held in a Miami jail while fighting extradition to the United Kingdom, and now they’ve had more bad news.

–Romanian authorities have announced new indictments against the Tate Brothers for charges of trafficking minors, money laundering, and sex with minors.

In LGBTQ+ news:

–Maine has announced it will continue providing gender-affirming care despite an announcement from the Trump administration banning Medicaid from covering hormone therapy and procedures for children under 18.

–Kansas passed a law that demanded that people use the bathroom that matches the gender shown on their birth certificate. If you break the law, you can be subject to fines and/or prison time.

–In response, the “Compliance Crew” is sending big, burly, very male-looking trans men into women’s public bathrooms to show the absurdity of the bathroom bans. They all wear “Compliance Crew” T-shirts to identify themselves.

–Several women have called the police when they found men in their bathroom. When they arrive, the Crew show their birth certificates and a copy of the law as written proof they are only trying to follow the law.

–The Compliance Crew: “Segregating people by suspected genitalia does nothing to improve public safety–it does quite the opposite, by opening Kansans up to sexual harassment and discrimination. At no point should anyone be asking anyone else what genitals they have in public.”

–kscompliancecrew: “Yesterday two Compliers enjoyed public facilities in our Kansas community–pools, libraries, and more! While out, we made sure to follow ALL LAWS, including SB244, which prevents us from using men’s facilities (the ones we’ve been safely using for decades) at the threat of fines and even jail time. This is what the legislature wanted, right?”

In ICE news:

–ICE agents are still wearing masks and bullet-proof vests, and now they’re armed with black gloves that can deliver a paralyzing shock.

–Cubans living in Florida are being deported to Africa.

–The federal prosecutor who charged ICE agent Christian Castro for lying about shooting Sosa-Celia has now been FIRED. He objected to the DOJ stopping him from charging a civil rights violation–so they fired him.

–Tom Homan, head of the DHS: “I think most American people support what ICE is doing.”

–But there’s good news, too. In Massachusetts, the Middlesex County DA’s office has dropped criminal trespassing charges against two anti-ICE protesters just days before the beginning of their trial. The activists had said they planned to use the court case to highlight detention conditions inside ICE’s New England office.

–And in New York a new state law went into effect, stopping local cops from signing cooperation agreements with ICE agents.

In Epstein/Trump news:

–Katie Phang accused Todd Blanche of lying to the court to avoid Jeffrey Epstein file disclosures. She said Blanche continued to defy the June court order requiring release of more files.

–Phang: “Previously, he argued that he could not appeal this case. His position appears to have now changed, and he has filed what he describes as a protective notice of appeal…but the defendant has not actually filed any motion to stay this Court’s preliminary injunction on the current proceedings or made any substantive argument why these proceedings should be stayed. The defense’s argument can be dismissed on that basis alone.”

–She urged the judge to compel the defense to follow the Epstein Files Transparency Act, as well as the court’s orders. “The Court should direct an in camera review of the FBI interview notes, and direct defense to produce a complete redaction log.”

–Fred Berfel: “Delay, obfuscation, diversion…if he can just keep it up a little longer…”

In Reason to Hate JD Vance news:

–The other day said this year was the anniversary of the “celebration of 9/11.” That’s right–“CELEBRATION!” Now he’s made it worse.

–When asked about going to the 9/11 services (Trump refused to go, so Vance is going in his place), Vance said, “I am looking forward to it, because it’s such an amazing honor to get to go to New York.”

–ms_intexas: “To commemorate the murder of thousands of people? Fucking weirdo.”

–OGBobbyJoshson: “He’s possibly the worst politician I’ve ever seen.”

–Helen Kennedy: “Every time you think you can’t possibly think less of JD Vance, he surprises you.”

–Vance also said, “As you guys can probably guess, I’m really looking forward to hanging out with Joe Biden. I’m sure we’ll have many, many intense intellectual conversations. We’ll have a great time.”

–jacquelineo: “Could Vance be a bigger jerk?”

–Note: Biden and all the other living presidents will be there. Except for Trump. He refused to go because they wouldn’t let him make a speech.

In science news:

–You’ve got to see this sea creature, the micro melo sea snail:

Miniature Melo: a Snail Made of Starlight

In Not Everybody’s a Jerk news:

–A local woman in Marin County, California has donated $1 million dollars to the teachers of Ross Valley School District because she thinks they’re underpaid. The teachers were all presented with checks for $9000 apiece.

In other news:

–I reported before that Trump’s and the Saudis’ LIV golf tour was declaring bankruptcy. What I didn’t know is that all the players who forsook the PGA tour and signed on to the LIV tour are getting stiffed out of millions of dollars in the process.

–The number of visitors from Canada to Las Vegas has completely collapsed, going “from a torrent to a drip.” Las Vegas ended 2025 with the largest annual visitor decline since the pandemic–and that was before Trump’s trade war with Canada.

–Trump is spending Labor Day weekend golfing at Bedminster (remember where he moved some of those stolen documents and then disclosed classified information to his golfing buddies?) He had Natalie Harp with him, carrying that enormous bag that seems to get bigger every time we see it.

In good news:

–Mapquest shot to on Apple’s free apps list after it defied Trump’s order to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America.

–A federal appeals court ruled that states can regulate prediction markets like gambling.

–A wildlife crossing in Washington state has been so successful–10,000 safe crossings and zero roadkill in 12 years–that the state is building 15 more under-crossings and 1 more over-crossing.

Best meme of the day: “Fact: “Mitch McConnell is the only vegetable the USDA has not recalled this year.”

Best comment of the day, from Will Bunch: “The madness has been a slow train coming, but it’s starting to accelerate, and may soon run off the rails.”

Keep calm and carry on,

Connie Willis
